Dispelling the Illusion of Productivity: Unproductive Phrases Creatives Say and How to Avoid Them

Phrase 4: Just trying to keep my head above water

Ever feel like you're drowning in way too much work?

That's probably where that phrase comes from, the one where people moan, "I'm just trying to keep my head above water."

It's a plea for help and mercy because more than 50 percent of teams do not have enough staff to get work done on time without working overtime. But your team shouldn't have to spend each day feeling like if they don't escape soon, they'll drown in all of their work.

HIDC is the only web design conference focused entirely on design and the design process, and it's coming to a city near you in 2014:

Scott Snibbe San Francisco keynote speaker Scott Snibbe provesas if there were any doubt-that interactive design can be very human, very engaging and nearly infinite in its creative possibilities.

A pioneer in immersive media art and the founder of Snibbe Interactive, Scott Snibbe was one of the early developers of Adobe After Effects. He's a pioneer in gesture-based interactive experiences (some of which were featured at the Beijing Olympics). He's a renowned innovator in interactive art and human-computer interaction research.
While any one of these areas of expertise would make for a fascinating keynote talk, Scottwhose award-winning music apps have featured collaborations with Björk, Beck, Philip Glass, Metric, and Passion Pitwill kick off the San Francisco conference with a look at the very human passion for music.

What is the successor to the LP, MTV, and YouTube? How will music meld with video, graphics and interactivity? And will any of it make money? Scott will present some historical and current examples of interactive and visual digital music experiences, along with the debut of Eyegroove, a brand-new social visual music platform that will be released around the time of this talk.

Now that's what we mean when we say that HOW Interactive Design Conference speakers are true experts in the field. Like Scott, every speaker at HIDC has deep knowledge earned by working with clients and honing their expertise over many years.

Now's your chance to get a front-row seat to absorb career-changing wisdom from Scott and other authorities in interactive design.
